Planning And Statutory Approvals, Production Information...

Architect Architects are involved in the designing and building stage and can oversee many parts of the process from beginning to end. The designing stage will require the architect to prepare the concept design and the detailed design, the applications for planning and statutory approvals, production information and tender documentation. During the building process, they may issue variation orders (VO’s) and architects instructions (AI’s) to be passed on to the necessary people, and they will inspect the final product and give advice on rectifying any defects after completion. The career pathway for an architect would begin at school/college studying relevant subjects like university. They would have completed a Bsc or BA degree in Architecture (or a related course) for 3 years. After graduating, they will complete 1 year of practical experience working under the supervision of an architect or a qualified construction industry professional. After this year, they will go back to university for a further 2 years to complete a BArch, Diploma or MArch degree. Another year of practical experience is required to be able to sit the final exam to become a qualified architect.
